Stefania "Babci" (Hoffman) Nowacki, 89, widow of Edward Nowacki since April 26, 1999, passed away at the Hospital of Central CT on Friday, June 1, 2012, with her family by her side. She was born in Radziechow, Poland and was the daughter to the late Michał and Barbara (Koziecka) Hoffman. During the war, she and her family were forced out of their home and taken into Russian work camps. From there she and her family traveled throughout Europe and settled in England for a short time. She and her husband, Edward then immigrated and settled in the United States, raising their family.
Stefania was a member of Sacred Heart Church, General Haller Post Ladies Auxiliary, Falcons Ladies Nest #8811, in her younger years she was an active member of the community, supporting many Polish causes, and her greatest joy was being with family and friends.
A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed by; her daughters and sons-in-law: Stella and Richard Squires of Kensington, Donna Nowacki and Rick Pucinski of Bristol and Maryann and John Szozdowski of New Britain, her sweet eight grandchildren; Stacy, Brenda, Marci, Dana, Eric, Ryan, Emily and Mark and nine precious great grandchildren; Nicole, Ashley, Justin, Austin, Alivia, Chloe, Ian, James and Kyle. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Christine LaCourse. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at the Hospital of Central Connecticut for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 beginning at 8:30am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 9:30am in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held Monday, June 4, 2012 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. The General Haller Post Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 6:00pm at the funeral home.
