Stanley Napier, age 95, beloved husband of the late Mary Napier (Turek), passed away on December 3, 2011 at LedgeCrest Home after suffering a stroke. Stanley was born in November of 1916, in New Britain to his late parents John and Sophia Napieracz. Stanley was raised in New Britain and attended local schools. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII. He was a member of the New Britain Lodge of Elks and the Oaks Club. Stanley served as Chairman of the New Britain Parks and Recreation Commission under Mayor Paul Manafort. In 1937, Stanley began working at Russell-Erwin as a machine operator and worked through various positions until his promotion to the position of General Superintendent of Manufacturing Operations in 1964. He was later appointed to Director of Industrial Engineering in the Hardware Division of the Emhart Corporation. He retired from this position around 1979. Stanley was responsible for saving many historic items and documents when the New Britain division of the factory closed, donating them to the New Britain Industrial Museum. Stanley was an avid golfer at Stanley Golf Course and later became a member of Farmington Woods Country Club. His love for playing golf led him to travel to many parts of the United States as well as to several other countries. In his retirement he volunteered his expertise at the Winslow Automatics Inc. factory until the age of 92. He also ran the Farmington Avenue Package Store in New Britain with his wife and sister Josephine.
Besides his sister Helen Giove, and his sister-in-law Ann Plocharczyk, Stanley will be missed by his nieces and nephews, John and Sharon Napier and their son Ryan of New Britain, Jane Napieracz of Plainville, Beverly Napieracz of Beverly, MA, Norman and Jean Was of Plainville, June and Jimmy Saruta of Avon, Raymond Plocharczyk of West Harwich, MA, Gary and Joyce Turek of Southington, Michael Turek of Manchester, Barbara and John Underwood of Bristol and Linda and Robert Albert of Wolcott. He is also survived by cousins Jimmy and Helena Serwan of Montreal, Canada and their daughter Violet Addono, and several great nieces and nephews. Stanley is predeceased by his siblings Valeria Pozhowski, Mary Was, Anthony Napieracz, Jospehine Napieracz, John Napieracz and nephew Ronald Was. Stanley also leaves his devoted friends Janusz and Carmen Podlasek, and Wendy and Robert Scata of Farmington.
Relatives and friends are welcomed to visit on December 6th, 2011 from 8:30-10:00AM at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by his funeral liturgy at 10:30AM in Holy Cross Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
