Robert Anthony Scapellati Jr., 52, of Berlin, son, nephew, grandson, and partner, passed away on Monday, August 23rd, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. Born on March 20, 1969, in New Britain, CT, he was the only son of Robert Scapellati Sr. who also resided in Berlin prior to his passing this past February, and his mother Halina Syp Flack of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was raised with love by his grandmother, Dorothy Scapellati of Berlin, grandfather Salvatore Scapellati, and father Robert Scapellati. His Aunt Doreen Plonka also helped to raise him and they shared many things in common, such as their love of treasure hunting at flea markets. Robert, known as Rob or Robbie, loved cars, which is a passion he shared with his father. Rob loved music, especially Jane's Addiction, traveling to the Caribbean, going to the beach, visiting local breweries, rooting for the Miami Dolphins, watching Ultimate Fighting, spending time with friends (who to him he thought of as family), and most of all he loved animals. He and his girlfriend of 14 years, Jessica Aliff of Plainville, rescued many cats and pugs over the years. He volunteered for multiple pug rescues before he and his girlfriend started their own rescue in 2020 called Cinderella’s Pug Rescue. He loved attending Pug Camp and Pugapalooza, which helped to raise money for pugs. Rob worked for the town of Berlin as maintenance/custodial staff for over 20 years at both the high school, and most recently, Hubbard Elementary School. He leaves behind his Grandmother, Dorothy Scapellati, aunt Doreen Plonka and her husband Wes, his mother Halina Syp Flack, his girlfriend Jessica Aliff, and many, many friends and relatives. He is predeceased by his father Robert Scapellati Sr. and his grandfather Salvatore Scapellati. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday (August 29, 2021) from 4 to 7 PM at the New Britain Memorial and Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, located at 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain. A celebration of Rob's life will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rob’s memory may be made to Cinderella’s Pug Rescue at 360-B Queen St #191, Southington, CT 06489 or .
