Robert E. Richards, 51, of Glastonbury, CT, passed away on May 21, 2024. He was born on January 24, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio. A graduate of The Wellington School and Dickinson College, Rob spent more than 20 years in the reinsurance and managed care industries, working with clients from start-up stages to established industry leaders.
This experience led him to join Mattress Concierge as a sales representative in 2017. Within a year, he secured the largest deal in Mattress Concierge’s history. This was also one of the largest deals in the industry’s history that year as well.
In 2020, he succeeded the company’s founder, Jeff Rogers, upon his retirement. Since that time, Rob focused the business on the burgeoning luxury independent and boutique hotel sector, forming close relationships with the leading brands in this market. Rob was a very accomplished businessperson. His expertise in sales, outgoing personality, and charm were all attributes that made him a very accomplished businessperson.
When it comes to pride, Rob was most proud of his children, Weston and Greyson. He loved sharing in their accomplishments in sports, school, and the overall people they were growing up to be. Watching them play lacrosse, Weston being accepted to Fairfield University, and their involvement in the local community, Greyson and Weston were the joys, and pride of his life.
Rob, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hiking with his beloved dog Finn. A self -proclaimed amateur chef, He also took to the kitchen as a natural. He knew how to sharpen knives, grill a great steak, and create any kind of sauce the dish of the evening might call for. His warm heart, and terrific sense of humor endeared him to many, thus allowing him many social circles.
Rob is survived by his daughter Weston Richards, his son Greyson Richards, parents, R.L. and Barbara B. Richards, his sister Amy Burgess (Ryan), his brother John Richards (Aidan Currie), his niece Elizabeth Burgess. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert L. and Donna Richards, and his maternal grandmother Florence Beck. A private family service will be held.
