Raymond James Michaud, 71, husband of Carmela Michaud, since 1971 of Plainville passed away unexpectedly on 09/21/21 at home with family by his side. Raymond was born August 24, 1950 in Caribou Maine to the late O’Neil J Michaud and Jane Michaud previously residing in Maine before settling in Connecticut. He graduated and attended E.C Goodwin Tech in Electrical Engineering Mr. Michaud was employed by Stanley Tools for almost 40 years and medically retired in 2012. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the US Marine and was also an MP and Special Forces
He was a parishioner/member of Saint Ann’s Church.
He married Carmela and they made their home in Plainville, CT. Raymond was a devoted husband and father who cherished time spent with family. In addition to raising their children, and grandchildren. A kind hearted man, he had a loving and helpful and strong nature with a great sense of humor. Talented in gardening, coin collecting, stamp collecting, and all animal knowledge. He was an avid animal lover and loved his beloved service dog Pumpkin Michaud, enjoyed baking, sword collecting, fishing, gardening, time spent with family, rides to the beach, and was also an accomplished U.S Marine with an impeccable record and sharp shooter and scout with a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal w/1*, Vietnamese Campaign Medal w/dev, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/palm, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Purple Heart Medal.
They were married almost 50 years on November 27 and settled in Plainville where he dedicated much of his life to his family. He enjoyed serving the lord with friends and family by teaching religious classes, passion play, and praying.
Raymond will be most remembered for being larger than life personality and being a social butterfly and for his voice not just his speaking voice but also his singing voice. In addition to his wife, Carmela he is survived and will be dearly missed by daughter, Valentina Michaud and granddaughter Victoria Farrow of Plainville Connecticut; sons, Christian Michaud and his wife Cathy Michaud of Forestville Connecticut, Marchello Michaud and his wife Katherine Michaud of Chicago Illinois; brother,
Gerald Michaud; sisters, Carol Krish and her husband Thomas Krish of Southington Connecticut, Brenda Jacynowicz and her husband Robert Jacynowicz of Charlestown Rhode Island; Brothers-In-law, Joseph Previti and his wife Judy Previti of New Britain
Peter Previti and his wife Fiorella Previti of New Britain, Vito Senior Previti of Middletown; Sister In-Law, Maria Wolstencroft Middletown; grandchildren: Victoria Farrow, Andrew Michaud, Alexander Michaud, Celli Michaud, Sebastiano Michaud, Ilaria Michaud, Ariella Michaud; 9 special nephews and 3 nieces as well as his service Dog Pumpkin Michaud. He was predeceased by brother, O’Neil Michaud Jr.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021 11:00am at St. Ann Catholic Church, 47 Clark St., New Britain CT. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 4 until 7 PM at New Britain Memorial Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. In lieu of Memorial donations in his memory may also be made to Carmela Michaud.
