He was born in Poland and has lived in Newington for the last 14 years, previously living in New Britain. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Britain and retired from Winslow Automatic Co.
He was a loving father and grandfather, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jadwiga (Tyszka) Sokolowski two sons and a daughter, Andrzej Sokolowski and his wife, Dorota of Plantsville; Adam Sokolowski and his wife, Krystyna of Wolcott; Alicja Kordalski and her husband, Grzegorz of Berlin.
He leaves six beloved grandchildren, who where his pride and joy, Adam, Steven, Jonathan and Joseph Sokolowski, Nell and Adam Kordalski.
He leaves a brother Edmund Sokolowski in Poland and three sisters in law, Irena Suchodolska, Stanislawa Rudzinska of Poland and Grazyna Kulaj of New Britain; he was predeceased by a sister in law, Maria Smiarowski and a sister, Helena Jakubowska.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 8:30 AM at the New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by the funeral liturgy at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, all located in New Britain.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home, (Directions Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, 1 ½ miles on your right).
