Maurice Ouellette, 74 of New Britain died at home on Friday, August 20, 2010 with his beloved family by his side. He was born in St. Agatha, Maine and was raised in Frenchville . Maurice lived in New Britain for most of his life and enjoyed spending his winters in Boynton Beach, Florida. For many years he worked as an electrician for the Guerard Electrical Co. In 1978 he started his own business the Eastern Electrical Systems Co.
Maurice was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where he was a collector for many years and was a member of the Mr.& Mrs. Club, he was also a member of the Catholic Order of the Foresters and the Knights of Columbus Council #12. He belonged to the French Model council Club; St. Jean Baptist Society; French Businessman Assoc. and the Franco American Society.
He was a loving caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved to help in his organizations but his greatest joy was being with his family, he will be dearly missed by all of them.
He is survived by his beloved wife and life partner, Janet (Guerard) Ouellette his sons, Kevin Ouellette of Plantsville and James Ouellette of California and his grandchildren Ashley and Austin.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters with their spouses, Normand Ouellette and his wife, Stella; Lucille Martin and her husband, Leo James; J Paul Ouellette and wife, Cleo of Frenchville, Maine; Lucien Ouellette and wife, Clara of Kent, Maine; Cecile Morin and husband, Roland of St. David, Maine; Evelyn Michaud and husband, Roland of Nashua, New Hampshire; Brother, Roland Ouellette S.C. of Pascoag, Rhode Island; Claudette Sirois, and husband Leo James of Higganum, CT; Normande Collin of New Britain, CT; Rachel Ouellette of Plainville, CT. He is also survived by a dear family friend, just like a daughter, Debbie Bonola.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Annie (Gagnon) Ouellette and by six brothers, Wellie, Arthur, Donat, Oneil and Claude Ouellette and Clifford Martin and five sisters, Yvette, Irene, Juliette Ouellette and Yvette (Martin) Beaulieu and Bernadette (Martin) Bell.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 9:00 AM at the New Britain Memorial and Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:00 AM at St.Francis of Assissi Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday August 25, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, (Directions, Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, 1 ½ miles on your right)
