

Maureen Pitts Whitecage Varasconi, 82, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Maureen bravely fought a long battle with lung cancer for many years.
She was born on November 13, 1931 in Rutland, VT., a daughter of the late Colonel Theodore Roosevelt Pitts and Mary (Tuggey). She was married to the late Leo F. Varasconi.
Maureen was a real estate broker for many years in Wolcott, CT., and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Newington and St. Francis of Assisi Church in New Britain. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Eastern Star. She loved to garden, play Bridge, and go dancing.
Maureen will be dearly missed by her two loving children and their families. Her son, John (Jack) S. Whitecage, his wife Gaye, and their two children, Daniel and Sara of St. Petersburg, Fl. Her daughter, Mary Nichols, her fiancé Bill Ulisse, and her son Dane Nichols of Rocky Hill, CT. She also leaves her true and loving companion of eight years, James C. Watt of Seminole, Florida.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a period of visitation on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 5-7pm at the New Britain Memorial – Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT 06053. Funeral Services will begin at the funeral home on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 8:30am followed by a funeral liturgy at 10am in Grace Episcopal Church, 124 Maple Hill Ave, Newington, CT, burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
