Maryann P. Samojedny Weber

Maryann P. Weber, a long-time resident of Berlin, passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2013. Her family was near her side. She was the beloved wife for almost 59 years of the late Edward M. Weber who died this past September.

The daughter of Polish immigrants, Maryann was born in New Britain to the late Joseph and Sophie (Rembisz) Samojedny. She graduated from New Britain High School and worked at Fafnir Bearing and Hartford Bank and Trust before marrying and devoting her life to her family. She loved her home where she spent many hours cooking, baking, decorating, and caring for those around her. Maryann was interested in natural health and was an avid recipe collector. She was especially fond of the beach, Sunday afternoon drives, and eating-out at restaurants. She looked forward to visits with her children and grandchildren, and holidays were always special times. She will be remembered for her beauty, strong faith, and will.

Maryann is survived by three daughters and two sons: Sharon Brodeur and her husband Tom of Rockland, MA; Mary-Ellen Petropoulos and her husband George of Rocky Hill; Sandra Weber of Berlin; David Weber of Fairfield; and Brian Weber and his partner Tom Stuart of Taos, NM. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother: Helen Kokoszka of Middlefield, Claire and Frances Samojedny of New Britain, and John Samojedny and his wife Jean of Southington. Maryann was predeceased by her brother Frank Samojedny and will be dearly missed by her six grandchildren: Nicole, Andrew, Rachel, Gregory, Erica, and Meaghan, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the New Britain Memorial /Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Paul’s Church, Kensington. Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
