Judith "Judy" Anne (Giana) Lombardo sadly passed away on July 3, 2017 at the age of 75 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. Judy was born in New Britain, Connecticut on August 21, 1941 to the late Raymond and Rita (Malloy) Giana. Judy grew up in New Britain and attended Elihu Burritt Elementary School, Nathan Hale Jr. and New Britain High Schools. After graduation, Judy worked for the City of New Britain Water Department for 10 years and for the Henkel/Loctite Corporation for 20 plus years where she retired from in 2015.
On September 26, 1964, Judy and Joseph "Joe" Lombardo were married at St. Ann Church in New Britain, Connecticut, and they were blessed with fifty-three years of marriage. In addition to Joe, Judy is survived by her daughter Lynn Lombardo of Cromwell, Connecticut, her son James and daughter-in-law Catherine of Needham, Massachusetts, and three grandchildren, William, Mary and Grace Lombardo. Judy is predeceased by her brother, Edward Giana and is survived by her brother Alan and his wife Pamela Giana of Simsbury, Connecticut, as well as her brother Thomas Giana of Florida, and many dear friends whom she cherished.
Judy was a beloved wife to Joe, and the two enjoyed many wonderful times together, including frequent trips to New York and travels around the world. Judy loved to garden, was great with puzzles, and loved her daily Sudoku. Judy also had a talent for knitting and made many blankets, sweaters and even doll clothes for her grandchildren. Judy took great pride and delight in her grandchildren and was lovingly known to them as their always generous and sweet "Glama."
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care and attention Judy received by the nurses on floors C5 and N2 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, especially the angels of the Oncology Department; their kindness will always be remembered and a special thank you to Christine and Jen. Memorials may be made in Judy's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 9:00am at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:00am in St. Ann Church, 101 North St., New Britain. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Garden Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, 4-7pm at the funeral home.
