Joseph will be forever remembered by his wife Julia (Taricani), married 74 years, son, Joseph Ingenito (Brussels, Belgium) and husband Miles Madison, daughters Cynthia Seale (Hobe Sound, FL) and partner Michael Kavanagh, Julie Coia and her husband Michael Coia (Newington, CT) and three grandchildren, Collin Brennan, Mitchell Coia and Abigail Coia.
Joe was a devoted, kind, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to everyone. He is survived by many nieces and nephews in the Ingenito, Zadjura and Taricani families.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Josephine Ingenito, brother Ralph Ingenito and sister Mary Zadjura.
Joe graduated from New Britain High School and served active duty in the Navy during WWII. He then went on to study landscape design in New York City and flower design in Philadelphia.
Joe was a respected businessman who succeeded with the dedicated support of his wife Julia, brother Ralph and wife Nancy Ingenito and sister Mary Zadjura who all worked to bring the family business, Ingenito Florist and Landscape Center, to success for 65 years.
His love of growing plants and flowers was not only a profession but his hobby in retirement. Joe grew the most amazing and delicious tomatoes every summer and always helped his daughters with their landscaping and gardens.
Joe loved to play tennis and golf which he taught his children to also enjoy. He and his wife Julia tirelessly dedicated time to many charity events at St. Ann’s Church and within the city of New Britain. Joseph had a love for music and played the banjo and trumpet. He was a member of the Stuart, FL band and loved to entertain family, friends and neighbors playing his trumpet on holidays and special occasions.
He and Julia retired to Stuart, Florida where they enjoyed spending time entertaining several close friends. Joe played tennis and golf and worked as a starter for ten years at Martin County Florida Golf Course.
When not working or in Florida he and Julia spent 60 plus summers at their Chalker Beach home in Old Saybrook, CT. Joe loved the community at Chalker Beach, especially his neighbors, the Cohen family.
Joe will be greatly missed by his family who dearly loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Ann's Church, North Street, New Britain, CT. Floral arrangements for the Ingenito Family can be delivered to New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT 06053 in advance of the Funeral Mass.
