Josefa (Garcia Serrano) Perez, 87 of Burlington, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2016 at Cherry Brook Healthcare Center in Canton. Born in Denia, Prov. Of Alicante, Spain she was the daughter of the late Pedro and Elvira (Santacruz) Garcia Serrano. Josefa married the late Francisco Perez on May 25, 1960 and had two daughters, Josephine (Perez) Sempere and the late Rosemary (Perez) Presch. In 1966 Josefa, her husband and daughters moved to the United States and settled in New Britain. She worked for many years at Stanley Tool Corp, a parishioner of Saint Patrick’s Church in Collinsville and was a dedicated member of the Spanish American Cultural Club. She a generous and kind hearted person who loved cook and bake. Josefa was also very talented in both embroidery and crochet.
Josefa was a loving wife, a devoted sister, mother and grandmother. She is survived by daughter Josephine Sempere, six grandchildren Charles Sempere of Avon, Richard, David and Michel Sempere of Burlington, Stephanie and Daniel Presch of Avon, son-in-law Frank Presch of Avon, sister Magdalena (Garcia Serrano) Logan, two nieces Linda Serrano-Kielbowicz of Berlin, Mara Logan of West Brook, three nephews, Peter Serrano of Plainville, David Serrano of Colorado and Edward Serrano of Plantsville.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 9:00 AM at the New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Plainville. Calling hours will be on Friday, November 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home, Directions, Exit 37 off I-84 take a right, funeral home is 1 ½ miles on your right.
