Helen Maryann Miglizzi, our Dearest, Most Loving Wife and Mother, passed away at home comfortably on November 23rd, with family by her side. Helen was born in New Britain, on August 19th, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Rose and Stanley Zalewski. She met her future husband Joe while a freshman at New Britain High School and they married on August 10th, 1959. Her first son Stephen was born in 1965. Ten years later his brother Christopher was conceived in the same month Helen's mother passed away.
Helen was a homemaker until Christopher was 12 years old. She then became a CNA at the Jerome Home at the age of 48. She dedicated 21+ years of passionate patient care to those in need while maintaining almost perfect attendance until a medical condition led to her retirement. Helen enjoyed playing Mahjong with her friends and Scrabble with Joe. One of her favorite past times was shopping at Goodwill and she and Joe thoroughly enjoyed spending afternoons at Harbor Park and Crescent Lake. She is fondly remembered as a humble, kind, compassionate person and loving Wife, Mother and friend. She will be dearly missed. Helen is survived by her husband Joe, sons Chris, Steve, his wife Leslie and nephews Greg, Jeff and niece Karen. She is predeceased by her brother Stanley Zalewski and his wife Delores.
Predeceased relatives include Vera and Frank Zotter, Tony and Rita Miglizzi.
Helen was a gentle soft spoken soul and a very good listener, never seeking attention on herself. She had a wonderful sense of humor, slow to anger and quick to forgive and rarely criticised others. She enjoyed going to the theater with Joe live stage plays and concerts and listening to soft jazz. She loved animals and birds especially her beloved cat Misty.
Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday December 4, 2024 from 9AM-10AM. Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Church on Wednesday December 4, 2024 at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Wednesday December 4, 2024 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jerome Home, www.jeromehome.com in Helen's memory.
