Dolores Joyce Gorlewski Parisi, 90, widow of James F. Parisi, Jr., (owner of the original Wonder Bar Restaurant, Berlin, CT) died Thursday, July 8, 2021, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born November 29, 1930 in New Britain, daughter of the late John J. and Alice (Toczko) Gorlewski. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard J. Gorlewski. Dolores grew up in New Britain attending local schools and graduated from New Britain High School Class of 1948. She started Dolores Dance Studio at the age of 18 located at 6 Railroad Arcade in downtown New Britain. She then transferred the studio to her home. Dolores trained in New York City and studied with such famous New York teachers as Roye Dodge, Jane Dodge, Thalia Mara, and Arthur Mahoney. She was the President of The Dance Teachers Club of CT, Inc. and affiliated Club #18 Dance Masters of America. After retiring from teaching dance, she started Nanny’s Childcare in her name and taught the children (who became part of the family) everything from dance to swimming lessons. She leaves behind her three children: Cherie Anderson of Keswick, VA and her husband Tony, Scott Parisi of New Britain and his wife Inta, and Todd Parisi of New Britain with whom she resided; and 4 grandchildren: Corey and Justin Anderson, Jason Parisi and Erika Moylan. She also leaves 7 great-grandchildren: Landon and Asher (her 2 “Princes”), and Penny, Theodora, Juliana, Aubrey and Kinsley (her “ballerinas”). She also leaves her sister-in-laws, Carol Gorlewski, Marie Amenta and Carol Goodman; her dear friend, David Parziale, and several nieces and nephews. Special love goes out to the “Velveteens” ….. never stop dancing! Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM at the New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home. A brief gathering will be held at the New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:30AM to 10AM. A Mass of Christain burial will be held on Wednesday, July 14 at 10:30AM at St. Jerome Church, New Britain. Burial will follow at the State Veteran’s Cemetery in Middletown at 12PM.
