Anthony Edward Scalise Jr. 71, of Newington, for formerly of New Britain, Connecticut, passed away October 7th, 2017, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. He was born in June 18th, 1946, in New Britain, Connecticut the son of the late Anthony and Irma (Carsanico) He was the oldest of 5 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Gayle (Wiersema) Scalise and his step mother, Rose Scalise. He graduated from New Britain High School in 1964 and servicing United States Marine Corps in Vietnam also stationed in Cuba and the Mediterranean. He was employed by Balf Company and Hudson Oil for many years. His favorite career was officiating Basketball where he was a well-respected Official of NCAA Division I, II, III college basketball also high school. He held many positions such as the Chairman of the Training committee, Assistant Commissioner of IAABO Board 6 and Connecticut IAABO President in 1995. He retired from Basketball after 39yrs of service on November 16th, 2008. The governor declared that day Anthony "Tony" Scalise day.
He is Survived by his Son, Michael Scalise and finance Alissa of Delray Beach, FL and his Daughter Jaime, granddaughters; Ava, Alexia, Lillian, and Isla. His sister Deborah Probulis; Brothers Keith Scalise and Robert Scalise and a beloved Aunt Ines and many more Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard. To everyone he's ever met and touched he was truly "The Man, The Myth, and the Legend" you truly will be missed and never forgotten.
Visitation services will be on Wednesday, October 11 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at New Britain Memorial\Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain. A memorial service with military honors will be at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Directions: Exit 37 off I-84 take a right, funeral home is 1 ½ miles on your right. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
