Angelo DiMatteo 102 of New Britain was accompanied by angels to heaven on Monday, April 4, 2011 with his devoted family by his side. He was born in Guardia Lombardia Italy and has lived in New Britain for most of his life. He was employed by Stanley Works before retiring.
He was a loving and caring, father, grandfather and great grandfather, his family was his greatest pride and joy and he loved spending time with them. He will be dearly missed by all.
He was predeceased by his parents Gaetano and Concetta (DiPietro) Dimatteo, his wife, Arcangela (DiPietro) DiMatteo, his son, Armando DiMatteo,and two brothers Gaetano and Angelomario DiPietro.
He is survived by his beloved family, two sons with their spouses, Gaetano and Filomena DiMatteo of Kensington; Domenic and Maria DiMatteo of Kensington, a daughter in law, Maria DiMatteo of Farmington and three sisters Francesca Luongo, Violanda Celletti and Alvera DiPietro.
He leaves seven beloved grandchildren with their spouses, Angelo DiMatteo; Angelo and Jacqueline DiMatteo; Angelo and Ramona DiMatteo; Josephine Ern; Angela and John Campagna; Tom and Mary DiMatteo; Armand and Kerry DiMatteo. Also survived are thirteen great grandchildren. Tommy and Maxx; Dana and Cory; Jessica and Casey; Jenna and David; Marissa and Andrew; Daria, Giana and Nico. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Friday, April 8, 2011 at 9:00 AM at the New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain (directions: I-84, right off #37, 1 ½ miles on right) followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Garden Mausoleum, New Britain. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
