Adam Michael Muszynski, (Muzzy), 89, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016. He was a New Britain native and lifelong resident, son of the late John and Anna (Bogaczyk) Muszynski. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Gajda) Muszynski. He attended local schools, graduated from New Britain High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army, having been honorably discharged in 1953. He retired from Northeast Utilities after 43 years of service.
Adam enjoyed family gatherings, the New Britain Rock Cats and the Boston Red Sox. He was an avid carpenter and handyman, and could fix just about anything. He even built the family cottage. He was always full of jokes, not always good ones, but enjoyed making people laugh. He enjoyed McDonald’s breakfast with lifelong friends who held a special place in his heart. He was a member of St John’s the Evangelist Church of New Britain, the New Britain Senior Center, the Mattabasett Rifle Club of Berlin and the NRA. He was an accomplished musician and played in the U.S. Army 43rd Division Band and polka bands, such as Walt Solek’s Orchestra, John Dyno’s Orchestra and the Henry Oakley Orchestra to name a few, specializing in the clarinet and saxophone.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Lamb and her husband, Thomas; his son, Michael Muszynski and his wife, Carmen; his sister, Emily Rossignol and her husband, Janel; his six grandchildren, Jason Lamb and his wife, Corinna, Courtney (Lamb) Hilliard and her husband, Robert, Eric Muszynski, Justin Muszynski, Jeffrey Petillo and Jennifer (Petillo) Keller; his three great grandchildren, Ashley Hilliard, Carissa Hilliard and Oliver Lamb. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and dear extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Rebecca Petillo and Lana Furey. He was also predeceased by his sister, Catherine Kulak.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 4-7 p.m. at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. Adam’s funeral will begin Friday, Oct. 14, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 655 East St., New Britain. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 622 Burritt St., New Britain.
