Belatedly heard of Vern's passing.  Great guy.  I worked with him when we opened up the Bangkok office in 1971.  His wife Joyce and my wife Anna were good friends.  I only had 4 old friends from DEA still living and Vern was one of them.  Best wished to Joyce and the family.

We first met when I became the elected DA for my border county and Vern was the executive director of the South Texas HIDTA.  We were colleagues. I was the only woman among a group of state and federal law enforcement men.  Dynamics could get dicey.  Vern was courteous, respectful and always inclusive,  I grew to value his opinion and trusted his judgment.  His stories of his escapades were both hilarious and revealing.  Over the years I learned about Joyce,  his girls, his son and their endeavors; he learned about  my family.  We became friends, good friends; a friendship that continued long after I left public office and he retired.  Our conversations were always stimulating, amusing if not hilarious and often pointed.  I last spoke with him in July.  I was so very saddened to learn of his  passing.   I know of his great love for his family and I offer my deepest condolences for their profound  loss.

Vern was a great Special Agent and boss! He was always concerned for those who worked with and for him.  He was my last direct supervisor and someone I truly looked up to.  Any time I returned to Texas I always made a point to visit Vern and Joyce.  They both are very special to me and my family.   Joyce and the entire Parker family will remain in my and our family's thoughts and prayers...

First met Vern in Tokyo while I was trying to learn about the DEA Attaché position and Vern came from HQS to help🤣. Later in life we both became HIDTA directors in Texas, Vern in San Antonio and me in Houston. We spent many hours together on the phone and at meetings, and occasionally at a bar discussing what the heck we were trying to accomplish. You couldn’t be with Vern without laughing and talking about ‘life’. He was one of a kind and a great friend. My sympathy to Joyce and the rest of the family. Vern and you will be in my prayers. 🙏

I knew Vern both from our time in DEA and HIDTA. He had a wicked sense of humor and and was a lot of fun to be around. I especially liked his stories of his hunting trips and safaris. Vaya con Dios my friend. Dave Rodriguez, Seattle, WA.

John and I (Joe Castano) would occasionally take Vern to his favorite pizza place, Infernos, in Graeme.  The last time was in May 2022 and we took this picture above and posted it to his Facebook page.  We met Vern at Racquetball and Fitness club 34 years ago and had been great friends ever since.  We even met his son Michael there as Vernon was trying to whip him into shape.  Vernon was so proud of Michael on his accomplishments and successes.  John and I will miss Vernon and our occasional gatherings for lunch.

To the Parker Clan:

I first met Vern in 1968, when we were roommates in BNDD/DEA Basic Agent Class #2.  Over the next several years we were co-workers in San Francisco, CA.  As you well know, there was never a dull moment when Vern was around. I just have great memories of Vern and was terribly shocked to hear of his passing. What a great Agent and fun person he was.  Please accept my condolences .

Simply put, I will miss Vernon.  His enthusiasm, sparkle and light was always uplifting. He was joyous about things and so grateful. The strength he showed in so many areas of life inspires. We didn’t agree on all things, but I learned that we agreed on the important things; the heart of the matter. We respected one another in love, practiced tolerance. He was one of a kind and I was blessed to have shared some time on this earth with him and his lovely family. Thank You for everything Vernon😉❤️ A Hui Hou….

Prayers for strength, peace, and hope for the entire Parker family. Growing up, Allie and Tori were my very best friends. Their “papa” was all of us kids’ “papa” too… I have countless memories with Mr. Parker- from all the sleepovers us girls had, to hearing his incredible hunting stories, I’m so lucky to have had his presence in my childhood. Heaven definitely gained a beautiful soul, and we all gained a special guardian Angel.

I met Vern around 2001 at the Spectrum Gym. I could not believe the energy that guy had! He told me he used to have a key to the gym because he was always the first person there! I was mesmerized by the stories he told of his life. In the past couple of years I would go visit him either alone or with a couple of gym friends and his stories continued! We did not see eye to eye on a lot of issues but our friendship ironed out all the rough spots. I will miss my friend dearly! My sincerest condolences to Joyce and his entire beautiful family.

Be assured of our continual prayer for the whole Parker family. Vernon was an amazing neighbor. We will forever treasure knowing him and  the stories he shared about his life. He talked so proudly about  all of you.  Joyce he said,  "Oh my, she does so much for me, I am so great full for her."  He also spoke often about son & daughter and especially his granddaughters.
