Russell James Hoffmann of Live Oak, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the age of 69 years. He was born on June 25, 1954 to Joyce Helen (Wesch) Hoffmann and Lawrence Victor Hoffmann in New Braunfels, Texas.
Russell is survived by his siblings: Floyd Hoffmann (Lisa), Karen Green (Ronald), Donna Thomas (Bill), Myrna Grimm (Glenn), Michael Hoffmann (Bonnie) and sister-in-law, Yvonne Hoffmann. He is also survived by beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends, and neighbors. Russell is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Samuel Hoffmann.
Russell graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1972. Upon graduation, he entered the world of construction working in the Austin/San Antonio areas. Russell was a talented carpenter and woodworker. His true passion and expertise was in his cabinetry making and remodeling which is where he spent the majority of his career. Many family member’s and friend’s homes have been blessed over the years with Russell’s beautiful handiwork that will be treasured memories of him.
Russell was a lover of life and all the simple pleasures it had to offer. He enjoyed the outdoors and God’s beautiful creations. Fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time in nature brought Russell much peace and happiness. He was an avid fisherman and spent much of his life along the Texas coastline fishing for a trophy red or trout. Russell could navigate the waters and shared this skill with others. His favorite fishing areas included Cedar Bayou, Traylor Island, St. Joe’s Island, Mud Island, Estes Flats, Port Mansfield, and of course the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It brought Russell pure joy to take family members and friends out fishing on his shallow sport boat, “Halibut.”
The past years Russell enjoyed the ease with which the IPhone kept him connected with his family, friends, and the world. The Weather Channel, YouTube, Google, Maps, texting, and his IPhone camera were his favorites. He loved finding his favorite songs or videos on YouTube and sending them out to his family and friends. IPhone in hand, morning and evening, Russell could be found feeding his birds and pet squirrels on his front porch, listening to music, and visiting with his neighbors.
Russell’s world truly revolved around sharing life with his family and friends. We all loved him dearly, and he loved us dearly. He will be greatly missed, but we are assured of and can only imagine our reunion in heaven.
