Margie Reed

Margie Helen Holland Reed was born June 9 1930 in Willow City, Texas to Manzy and Edna Delz Holland. She was the 5th of 9 Children. She married the only love of her life, Grady Houston Reed in 1948. She was a devoted wife and mother to 6 children. Her husband’s untimely death in 1970 left her a widow at an early age. She continued to run the family ranch and went on to start her own successful carpet business. She became a prominent businesswoman and ran this business until her retirement. Margie was well known in San Marcos and was active in many civic organizations and even had the title of an “El Jefe” in the long time Chilympiad Chili Cookoff.

She loved people and treated everyone with respect. People returned that respect with love and joy.

Margie leaves behind her children: daughter Betty (George) Eastwood of Marble Falls, son Grady Houston Reed Jr, daughter Sandy (Wes) Dukes of Cuero, daughter Sheila Faye of Kyle and son Michael Patrick Reed of Fischer. She is also survived by sister Pat Fiedler(Martin) of Harper and Della O’Bryant of North Carolina. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 siblings; son Walter Pina Reed, an infant son and one grandson.
