She was born to Charles and Lila Mae (Watts) Sharp in Mexico, Missouri on December 28, 1937. She married Claude Higbee on June 17, 1956 in Mexico, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years Claude Higbee of New Braunfels, Texas; daughter, Sandy Sherrod and husband Vance of College Station, Texas, daughter Wanda Merritt and husband Glen of Corpus Christi, Texas, son Larry Higbee and wife Mary Jeanne of Murphy, Texas. Grandchildren, Amanda Merritt, Stephanie Merritt, Courtney Merritt of Corpus Christi, Texas and Kyle Higbee, Kelsey Higbee of Murphy Texas; sister, Helen Rodriguez of Kingsville, Texas, and brother Walter Sharp of Kingsville, Texas.
Margie graduated from Mexico High School in Mexico, Missouri in 1956. She was an employee of Lawrence Drug Store in Mexico, Missouri during high school through the late 1950’s. After 7 years of marriage and the birth of their three children, Claude, Margie and family move to South Texas in 1963. She volunteered many years at the Spohn Kleberg Hospital in Kingsville before being employed there for an additional 10 years.
Margie and Claude moved from Kingsville to New Braunfels in 1997 after Claude’s retirement from Celanese Corporation.
Margie loved traveling; some of her favorite places were Las Vegas, New Orleans, Reno and Missouri. She enjoyed working in the yard and garden. Took pride in being with and spoiling the grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at the lake and beach with her family. She spent a lot of time taking pictures of everything she could snap a picture of. She loved all of her cats throughout the years. Cooking was passion and there was never an empty stomach when you came to her house. She loved getting together with her friends and neighbors for coffee and chit-chat. Her whole life she cherished every minute with family and friends and will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
Public visitation will begin 11 a.m. Monday, at Zoeller Funeral Home with the family present to receive friends 5-7 p.m.
