She married in 1958 to Richard L. McClellan where they relocated to Corona, CA and later moved to Riverside in 1972. Their family grew to 3 daughters Anna R. Simpson, Rebecca D. Archer, and Rhonda L. Kraus, 7 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grand children and counting. Leona was part of numerous school activities and had a strong position in the PTA and Girls Scouts, even being awarded the “Outstanding Young woman of America” award for her contributions.
She loved going camping, the outdoors, dancing, Bingo, Poker, Cards and cooking for her family and friends. She loved Fishing, and was quite the fish filet wizard and always offered to clean others' fish. She loved sharing her passion for Fishing, Cooking and helping others. This passion was clearly on display at Fisherman’s Retreat where they could indulge in the many outdoor activities with Family and Friends throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her Daughter Rhonda, her Granddaughter Michelle and her parents Joe and Ola, along with other Loved ones.
Richard and Lee loved traveling around the US, visiting Family and Friends over the years. In February 2006, Richard fell and passed away from sustained injuries the next day. Leona then was moved by her daughter Anna Simpson to New Braunfels, TX. Where she enjoyed the last years of her life, waiting for God to call her home.
She loved family and she loved to be a shoulder to cry on or an ear for anyone who was unhappy. She always felt where there was a will, there was a way. She embodied her Texas values to respect your elders and your children must do the same. She loved all her children and grandchildren and the last few years of her life she wanted to see all of them but her health changed that dream. Rest in Peace your God’s angel now.
