Jose Manuel Moreno, age 89, of Dallas, Texas, died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. He was born in Lockhart, Texas on August 15, 1934 to Tomas Moreno and Luz Sifuentes Moreno. He was one of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Tomas Moreno (Felicitas Limon), Herbert (Bertha Tamayo), Daniel (Tommie Dale Vincent), Carlos (Otila Garza) and Jesse (Carmen Tamayo) and by his sister, Gloria Moreno. Jose was first and foremost a family man and very intelligent. In 1969, he married his wife, Alicia Garza, and they had two sons, Adrian Jose Moreno and Marco Antonio Moreno. He raised his sons to be good men and worked hard to give them the best education possible. He enjoyed travel and attended many family events. He was in the US Army Reserves. He worked as an Internal Auditor for the IRS and retired from the IRS after twenty years of service; after which he earned his CPA credential and opened his accounting practice; which he maintained for many years until he retired at the age of sixty-five years of age. He was also a licensed Realtor and Real Estate Broker and owned rental Real Estate. Jose was a member of the Oak Cliff Lions Club.
Jose is survived by his wife, Alicia Garza Moreno, and his two sons, Adrian and Marco (Stephanie Makumi Moreno), his two grandsons, Jabari Jose Moreno and Leo Moreno; his sisters, Lidia Moreno and Olivia Moreno (Leandro Balandran); his brother, Julio Moreno (Mary Tamayo) and many other family members.
Public Visitation and Viewing for Jose will be held Wednesday April 17, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St., New Braunfels, TX 78130 with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will occur Thursday April 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, New Braunfels, TX 78130. A committal service will occur at a later date.
