John Thomas Miller

John was born in San Antonio, TX, on base at Fort Sam Houston. After spending part of his youth in San

Antonio, the family moved to Rockport, TX, where John attended high school and graduated from RFHS

in 1976. He spent several years playing varsity sports such as football and baseball and maintained

many friendships from his time there. After graduating from high school, John attended the University

of Texas in Austin.

John spent several more years in Texas before venturing to Southern California where he started a

family and became a father to his daughter, Caitlin Sue. John loved his daughter immensely, and he was

extremely proud of all of her accomplishments.

While living in California, John expanded his skills in the areas of construction, carpentry, and boat

maintenance. After spending several decades in California, John returned to his home state of Texas in

2010. John continued using his marine and boating expertise as an employee of Bass Pro Shops Tracker

Boating Center in New Braunfels, TX.

Throughout the years, John took time to go hunting and fishing with family and friends. He rarely left a

fishing or hunting trip empty handed. He was also a sports fan and would watch the Dallas Cowboys no matter what kind of season they were having. His sense of humor got him out of many a tight spot! The

love and care he had for animals, both great and small, reflected in his daily life particularly with his

German Shepherd Bella.

John was preceded in death by his parents; Donald and Hallie Miller, brothers; Donald Miller, Timothy Miller, and Joseph Miller and one sister Mary Miller Smith.

John leaves behind his daughter, Caitlin (Adam) and his granddaughter Zayla Wind. He is also survived by his three sisters Patricia (Nizar) Abdel-Kader of Beirut, Lebanon; Barbara Warner of New Braunfels TX; and Madonna Binney of Schertz, TX. John enjoyed close relationships with his nieces and nephews

who will fondly remember time spent with him. John also had many close friendships throughout his

life including time spent with his special companion, Joy Kopecky.

No memorial plans have been made at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his

memory to the Coastal Conservation Association (ccatexas.org) and the American Heart Association

(heart.org).
