Jimmie Ross Morger, of New Braunfels Texas left this earth on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the age of 87 after a beautiful life full of close friends, family and beloved pets. Jimmie was born in Butler, Illinois on December 29, 1936, to Ruth Culp and Kenneth James Morger. Jimmie was the second of four children. He lived much of his childhood with his Uncle Leo and Aunt Patricia Icenogle and at times his cousin David Underwood and his wife Irene Underwood. Jimmie enlisted in the Airforce as a young man to serve his country and served for two terms being stationed in France as well as Korea.
He met and married his wife, Janelee in New Braunfels, Texas on January 27, 1962. He and his wife built a family and a life together, having five children and opening their homes and hearts to many others along the way. Jimmie was a man dedicated to his family and career. He supported his family with an unfailing work ethic, sometimes working two jobs to assure the needs of family were met and exceeded.
After leaving the Air Force, he continued to work with the Air Force in a civilian capacity as a lineman and a technical consultant for line installations. He received the highest honor awarded to civilians by the Air Force, the Sustained Superior Performance Award in 1986 and again in 1987. In 1988 he was recognized as an Honorary Member of the 2111 Communications Squadron. He also earned the Major General Lewis G. Curtis Award in Recognition of Logistics Excellence in 1991. He retired in 1992, after 36 years faithful and devoted Federal Service from civilian employment. He spent the remainder of his years driving a school bus and enjoying his retirement.
Jimmie was proceeded in death by his parents, Ruth Culp and Kenneth Morger; siblings Jerry Morger, Elaine Carlson, and Rex Morger; his wife Janelee Morger, son Kenneth James Morger, and great granddaughter Rebel Eden Rose Hendrick. He is survived by his children Linda Lawson (Steve), Robert Morger, Julie Hunt (Jeff), Jennifer Ross (Todd); Five grandchildren; Kyle Newhouse (Hope), Molly Newhouse (Carl Hendrick), Alexander Doyer and Ashley Sanchez; Five great grandchildren; Tegan Hendrick, Ember Hendrick, Evangaline Sanchez, Skylyn Sanchez, Jazlyn Sanchez, and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Zoeller Funeral Home at 10:00 AM followed by a Service at 11:00 AM. A Graveside Memorial will be held the same day at 12:30 PM at Guadelupe Valley Memorial Park in New Braunfels, Texas. A reception will follow the graveside service at Zoeller Funeral Home.
