Irene Lella Moehrig passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the age of 81. She was born in Seguin, Texas on February 26, 1935 to Albert Hansmann and Lydia Ruedrich Hansmann. She grew up living in the Seguin, Marion and New Braunfels area.
Irene was a caring and loving person and took care of everyone she met. Her mother passed when she was 16 and she helped raise her younger siblings. She knew the meaning of hard work. From growing up working in the fields and then getting a job as a bookkeeper at Becker Motor Company where she later met the love of her life. She was also employed at Commette Hosiery Mill, First Federal Savings and Loan and Balcones Bank in San Marcos. She was a friend to all and left her mark on many people’s lives.
She married Hilary on November 13, 1955. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Sheryl, on September 6th, 1957. Irene always enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, playing 9 pin bowling, cooking, taking care of a huge garden and canning, sewing and messing around in the yard. She will always be remembered for her fantastic pancakes and making sure that everyone had before she did.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lydia Hansmann; her loving husband of 49 years, Hilary August Moehrig; sister, Bertha Mae Busch and husband Ed Busch; brother, Freddie Hansmann; and granddaughter, Sara Nicole Brandenburg.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Moehrig; grandsons: Eric Schneider (Yvette), Bryan Schneider (Chasity), and Jason Brandenburg (April); 5 great-grandchildren: Gunner, Laramie, Tammie, Mikey and Eli; sisters: Katherine Koehler (Wilburn), Priscilla Koehler (Elwin), and Dolores Busch (Clarence); brother Harold Hansmann; sister-in-law, JoAnn Hansmann; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Visitation will be held on Monday, September 5, 2016 from 5-7pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 10am at Zoeller Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Sodalis Memory Care and Cima Hospice for their support in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sodalis, Cima Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
