Gail Erleen Adams was born September 30,1934 in Harlingen, Texas. She passed away in her sleep January 23, 2024 in New Braunfels, Texas. A memorial service to celebrate the 89 years of a life well lived will be held February 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Oakwood Church.
Gail was the first born baby of Earl and Annie Mae Mallory. The family moved to Baytown, Texas in 1942 where she grew up and spent most of her life. Gail had three younger sisters, Dorla, Nancy and Elray. She was baptized as a young girl at Memorial Baptist Church, and was actively involved in teaching young children for many years. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1953 and loved playing the drums with the Brigadiers. After high school, she worked for Citizen’s National Bank where she made all the holidays more fun by dressing up in costume. She married Jerry “Fat Boy” Adams and they had three children together, Steve, Daryl and Staci Adams.
Gail and her three sisters were very close and loved getting together for holidays and celebrating birthdays. She would make the best birthday cakes for her kids and all the thirteen cousins and made everyone feel special and loved. She was creative, accepting of others, open-minded and made others feel important; never missing her children’s sporting events or a friend’s birthday. Gail loved to dance, play any kind of game, and went on many cruises with friends. She always brought the joy, and was still line dancing into her 80’s. She had a generous spirit and was loved by many, but being Gigi to seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren was her favorite.
When her daughter in-law passed away in 2010, Gail moved to New Braunfels to help her son, Daryl, care for his three young children. Gigi had a servant’s heart. She spent the last 13 years of her life devoted to grandchildren in New Braunfels and attending Oakwood Church.
Gail is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Annie Mae Mallory; infant baby girls, Tracey and Stacey Adams; daughter-in-law, Virginia Adams; sister, Dorla and husband Donnie Dittman; sister, Nancy and husband Wayne Balke; nephews, Douglas Dittman and Brent Balke and niece, Sherilyn Balke.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children: Steve and Mary Adams, Daryl Adams and Staci Adams; 7 grandchildren: Lauren Adams, Megan Anderson (Ron), Craig Adams, Blake Adams, Tyler Adams, Jake Adams, and Jordan Adams and 3 great-grandchildren: Clara Anderson, Emmett Anderson, and Winnie Anderson; sister, Elray and husband Dick Couey, as well as a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
