December 19, 1950 – January 8, 2014
“A righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end, he will look in triumph on his foes. He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in honor.” Psalm 112:6
Dana was born December 19, 1950 to Lathan and Jo Walker in Monahans, Texas. Dana graduated from Baylor University in 1973 and earned a Doctoral Degree in Dentistry from Baylor Dental School in 1976. Later that year he began his practice where he faithfully served his patients until retirement in 2008. Dana was best known for being a remarkably kind and gentle dentist. Dana was faithful to his God and First Baptist Church of Odessa for over 35 years. During this time he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and worked with numerous other committees in the church.
Dana’s greatest love was his family, and he blessed the lives of all that he touched. He had two beautiful girls, Alana and Rachel, whom he adored. From tennis tournaments to musical performances, Dana never missed attending an event for his daughters. In 1999, Dana found his soul mate, Susan. Together, they continued to pour their love into their children and grandchildren. Dana’s Godliness, gentle spirit, humble heart, compassion, selflessness, honesty, generosity, and integrity will continue in the legacy he leaves behind for his family and friends.
Dana is survived by his loving wife, Susan; daughter and son-in-law Alana and Nathan Skaggs of San Antonio; and daughter, Rachel Walker, of Waco; grandchildren Grayson and Weston Skaggs of San Antonio and Hayden Walker of Waco. Dana is also survived by his sister and her husband, Jan and Dennis Davidson of College Station, along with nephew, Ryan Davidson and his wife Emily of Houston, and niece, Brooke Davidson of College Station and numerous dear cousins. Dana’s legacy also extends to Camille and John Wheelock of New Braunfels, and their children, Galina, Macey, Aubrey, Clay, Colt, Troupe, Will and Ella; along with Cody and Ashley Monzingo of New Braunfels, and their daughter, little Marley.
Dana loved us well, and left his earthly home in the arms of his family. He was carried to his heavenly home in the arms of God.
