Carla Ann Kunkel “Manna” went to home to be with Jesus on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the age of 68. Carla was born October 6, 1950 to J.T and Grace Crumley. She grew up in a small farming community near Lubbock, Texas.
Carla dedicated her life to educating children in New Braunfels as an Elementary Teacher. Carla’s passion was sharing her love of Jesus with everyone she met and everything she did, she did for Him. Carla’s good and faithful nature meant she was always serving others. Even though Carla had her own hardships in her life, she never missed an opportunity to share His word.
Carla was very active in her church and volunteered her time with Vacation Bible School, women’s ministry, Lead bible studies, and began a single mom’s ministry, along with many other things. She raised money to buy Promise Bibles and supplies to send care packages to help support our troops. Carla served on the board at Options for Life because she believed that every child was a gift from God.
Carla’s friends were very important to her. She devoted a lot of time praying and enriching their lives and in turn they have blessed hers. She enjoyed ministering to family, friends, neighbors, and fellow patients at the oncology center (anyone and everyone she met).
One of Carla’s favorite things to do was spend time with her beloved daughters and grandchildren. She loved being “Manna” and had a special relationship with each of them.
She is survived by her daughters Shannon Sample, husband Brian, and Melissa Jalufka, husband Kalen, and five beautiful grandchildren: Hayley, Macy, and Logan Sample and Charlee and Kasen Jalufka, her sisters Merle Sides and Bettie Washington and their families as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Lloyd Kunkel.
Visitation will be at Zoeller Funeral Home Wednesday, January 9 from 5:00-7:00pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Community Christian Church in New Braunfels Thursday, January 10, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., with Burial to follow at Comal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Options for Life of New Braunfels or Community Christian Church of New Braunfels.
