Anna Lee Patterson (Brooks) went home to be with her Lord on January 2, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born December 17, 1932, in Stanton, TX to JC and Sophie Brooks. She met Johnie J. Patterson while attending Midland High School, and they married in 1951.
Johnie and Ann raised their two daughters, Teresa Jo and Julie Ann in Midland and Kerrville before moving to New Braunfels where they lived together until Johnie’s death in 2009. She served her community at the New Braunfels Church of Christ as an Elder’s wife and tireless volunteer, hosting parties for the Sunny Seniors, showers, potlucks, and making food for others. She co-owned the Coiffures De Ville beauty salon and Merle Norman cosmetics store on Landa Street, where she spent much of her time and touched many lives as both a friend and employer. Ann’s love for her family brought her immense joy, and she and her daughters were inseparable. Whether she was living in New Braunfels with Teresa or in Oklahoma with Julie Ann, she enjoyed shopping and going to the nail salon with her girls. In 2018, Ann moved to Edmond, OK into the Veraden Senior Living Center. She quickly adapted to her new life, building friendships with residents and staff, and serving on several committees. She loved going on bus outings, exploring new places in Oklahoma, and walking down the runway for the Veraden fashion shows! Ann also treasured finding a shady spot with Julie Ann to share her favorite Chick-fil-A sandwich, cup of fruit, and a large Diet Dr. Pepper. Throughout her life, Ann was always a dear friend to many and truly showed a servant’s heart to all those she met.
Ann was known to those closest to her as Grandmommie. Grandmommie loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and supported them through all their activities. We will miss her attendance at games and concerts, her meals and desserts, trips to the nail salon, long phone conversations, but mostly her great big smile and hugs.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie J. Patterson; her daughter Teresa Jo Simmons; and her grandson Andie Lee Simmons; brother James Brooks and wife Linda.
Ann is survived by her loving family. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Julie Ann and Mike Wiley of Edmond, OK; her son-in-law Keith Simmons of New Braunfels, TX; her grandchildren: Roger Simmons and wife Amy, Mark Wiley and wife Teresa, Brook England (Wiley) and husband Jerred, and granddaughter-in-law Brooke Simmons-Winslett.
Her great-grandchildren: James, Lydia, Evelyn, Adriana, and Constance Wiley; Abbie Lee and Ryan Simmons; Adlee Jo, Jacee Ann, and Draven England; Addie and Allie Simmons.
Ann is also survived by sister Jo Anna Brossett and her family: brother-in-law Charlie Patterson and wife Dee Ann and their family: and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
