Anna Josephine Branz passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at the age of 97. She was born on March 22, 1919 in (Ft. Clark) Kinney, Texas to Michel and Carolyn Hamer. She later married Richard Branz in 1935. They raised a beautiful daughter together, Maryann.
Anna and her husband, Richard owned a cafe; this is where she learned the art of cooking and baking- to all of our delight. Richard used to bring all sorts of stray animals home and she was always caring for them sometimes making them family pets, like the baby skunk (Stinker) she raised and became a dear family pet.
Anna was a very active, hard-working, vibrant individual. Her unbelievable ability to make anything grow was well known as people would bring her leaves and stems of their favorite plant and soon she would be sharing it with others. She and her daughter, Maryann started Small Favors Florist and it remained in the family for 42 years. She was active in the Canyon Lake Order of The Eastern Star being their Worthy Matron on two occasions. She was always ready to wet a line fishing either at the coast or at the lake. Anna served on Eden Homes’ board of directors for several years. She earned her real estate license after her 70th birthday. Anna loved many and many loved her. That bright smile and sunny disposition will be missed by all that came into contact with her.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Michel and Carolyn Hamer; husband, Richard Branz; sister, Billie; brother-in-law, Lawrence; and daughter, Maryann Snow.
She is survived by her sister, Janie Foreman; son-in-law, A.C. Snow; granddaughters, Karen Stewart (Keith) and Susan Snow-Wolfe (Bruce); great grandchildren, Cody Stewart, Alyssa Ellis, and Amanda Hawkins (Kyle); 5 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Patti Ansaldo (Adrian), Judy McCoy (David), Bruce Noble (Andrea), and Mitchell Noble (Michelle); and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 1:00pm at Eden Hill Chapel.
We would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Eden Hill and CIMA Hospice for the tender loving care you shared with Anna.
