

Alfred “Al” A. Rothe, 86, of New Braunfels, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital New Braunfels. He was born to Alex Rothe and Hilda (Solm) Rothe in San Antonio, Texas on October 31, 1929. He grew up in China Grove and attended East Central High School before enlisting in the US Army. He proudly served during the Korean War and retired from the military after 33 years. He was a member of the VFW post 76, Davy Crockett Lodge # 1225 A.F. & A.M., and First Protestant Church in New Braunfels.
He is survived by his wife Darleen Rothe; son, Danny R. Rothe and wife Lisa of Katy, TX; daughter, Cheryl A. Tabbert and husband Brad of New Braunfels; 5 grandchildren, Weston Rothe, Lauren Rothe, Jaxson Rothe, Heidi Tabbert and Shelbi Tabbert; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lola Brotze; brother, Arthur Rothe; sister, Lucille Pehl; and his aunt and uncle who he cherished dearly, Agnes and Albert Marbach.
Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM Tuesday at Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at First Protestant Church with Reverend Chuck Huckaby officiating. Interment will follow in Comal Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to, First Protestant Church, The Shriners Hospital for Children or to the Wounded Warriors Project.
