Adrion [Bill] Bruce Williams, aged 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Bill was born May 23, 1942, in Amarillo, TX to Hardy Adrion and Gladys Bruce (Grubbs) Williams. Bill was raised in Carlsbad, NM where he met the love of his life, Rita (Knott) Williams, in the youth group at church. Bill and Rita married four years later, and lived a fulfilling and active life together, with their three children and four granddaughters for 59 years.
After graduating from Carlsbad High School, he proudly joined the US Army and served his country for 22 years. After retiring from the Army, he became a youth minister for 5 years at Fox and Lake Church of Christ in Carlsbad, NM. Bill loved working with young people and they loved him. At age 44, Bill then decided to go to college and become a Registered Nurse. He took care of premature babies in the NICU Unit in Lubbock, TX and San Antonio, TX for 22 years. In Bill's last 3 years as a nurse, he developed and taught a Sons to Dad class, and authored a book, “Sons to Dads,” a transition guide to teach new fathers the importance of their role and how to live up to it.
Bill is survived by his wife, Rita, two sons, Michael and Mark, and one daughter and son-in-law, Mimi and Russell Lincoln. Bill is also remembered by his granddaughters, Caroline Williams, Adyson, Macie, and Kylie Lincoln, as well as his sister Peggy Moore. Bill was predeceased by his parents Hardy and Gladys and 3 sisters Lena Ray, Tessa Ruff, and Grace Johnston.
Bill loved God, his family, and his country. He had an amazing sense of humor and loved making people laugh. Bill loved singing, church hymns, and working in his woodshop making incredible furniture, rocking horses for his granddaughters, and other items for his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time doing yardwork, tearing things apart, and (maybe) getting them back together.
Bill lived his last year of life at Walnut Springs Health and Rehab. Rita and their children are especially grateful for the wonderful love and care Bill received from the staff in Memory Care.
A public visitation for Adrion will be held Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
