William Joseph Wilfong

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Ann (Liz) Wilfong.

Bill was born in Pendleton County, West Virginia. He joined the U.S. Army from high school and served in the Army Security Agency in the U.S. and in Germany. He then joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture and later the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he rose to the level of branch chief in procurement. Bill and Liz retired to New Bern in 1993, living in Greenbrier. He enjoyed golf and maintaining his lovely yard, as well as caring for his wonderful cat, Bella, whom they adopted in 2005.

He is survived by his daughter, Diane E. Wilfong (Ann Fichtner) of San Mateo, California and his son, Douglas Wilfong.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
