When my father called about midnight to tell me that my mother had passed away, it took a few minutes to get over the shock and I called back about 10 minutes later to ask if I needed to come down to New Bern at that moment.  When the phone rang, your mother answered.  It ended up she was the first person he'd called when mother died.  I'm not sure I ever thanked her for that but, then again, "Mrs. Virginia" was never one who did things for the thanks; she did them out of love and kindness.  Our condolences to you.

I will always have special memories of Mrs. Chance. I grew up in her neighborhood and visited her often. She would ask me to come over and babysit Len & Ray. She was a God-send when my mother became sick and passed away in 2011. God bless you Rosa, Joe, & family!

What a sweet and beautiful spirit Mrs. Chance had. I grew up on Old Cherry Point Road and I remember going to her house. She let me visit the garden in her backyard and even gave me a little money to buy myself some M&M's. She always told me she loved my "golden curls" and would give me a big hug and kiss me on the cheek.  The warmth of her embrace always felt "so special" to me. I felt "loved" and couldn't wait to go visit her again. Ms Virginia was truly AN ANGEL. I will never forget her and her warm spirit.

Mrs Chance had a very special place in my heart.  I am the instructor at the cosmetology school.  The girls and I enjoyed her so much when she would visit.   Prayers for the family.

Rosa and Joe, I am deeply sorry for your loss.  Your mother was a special lady.  In my childhood, my older sister and I were in and out of her house a lot.  She treated as family.  I saw her a few years ago when she and Rosa attended a musical at the convention center.  I know she is in God's house now.

Mrs. Virginia Chance was a dear friend for many years to my Grandmother, Ethel Hansen. I am thankful for her Godly life and for the encouragement, love, and  friendship she gave to many others.

We always told Virginia that she was our resident saint at Village Chapel Presbyterian Church. So many of us looked to her for pearls of wisdom and she unfailingly shared her heartfelt insights with us. She always concluded by saying, "The Lord is able."We keep her words close to our hearts. Virginia cared for everyone and was loved in return. She is now with our Lord and at perfect peace. 
Our hearts go out to her family, her church family, and many friends. The Lord has gained another angel; and we have lost....for the time being....a true lady and a loving and shining example to us all.

I dearly loved Mrs. Virginia (Ma Jennie).  She  became a second mother to me after the death of my mother, Ruby L. Duell, in 2002.  I will miss her so very much.  I was there for her 99th birthday.  My love to her family.  Shirley Duell Edwards.

   Mrs Chance was one of the kindest, sweetest ladies that I have ever known. Was helpful in any way that she could. May she rest in peace.
