Victor Joseph Oloo Wanga

Victor Joseph Oloo Wanga, age 33, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 12, 2018. He and his twin, Vincent, were born on May 1st, 1985 in Nairobi, Kenya to Dr. Lucas Wanga and Dr. Pamela Wanga. He was a 2003 graduate of Rosemount High School in Rosemount, Minnesota. He married the love of his life, Alexandra Renee Duesbout on October 10th, 2006 in Okinawa, Japan. In 2007, he welcomed his beautiful son, Aiden Joseph, to the world. In 2009, their family of three turned to four when they welcomed his second beautiful son, Evan Alexander. 

Marine, firefighter, Mason, coach, Vikings fan, Brew Brother, amazing friend, mentor, confidant, baby whisperer… these are just a few of the hats that Vic wore. He never met a stranger and treated everyone like family. He was a strong advocate for a trip to the bar, the front porch swing, or the fire pit and proved that anything could be solved with a beer and conversation. He had a way with words and his wisdom was far beyond his years, but you’d never get him to admit it. Instead, he brushed off every compliment thrown his way and had the innate altruism to lift your spirit in response. His sense of humor will never be forgotten, and neither will his “funny laugh” or that million-dollar smile that lit up every room. His generosity was matched by none. Vic will be fondly remembered as a set of muscles in flip flops, with an extra pair of hands willing to help wherever it was needed. There is so much to be said about Vic that we could go on forever. There are no words that can attest to the profound loss that his loved ones are feeling. As one of his close friends said, we all have a Wanga-sized hole in our hearts that will never be filled or replaced.

Victor is survived by his wife, Alexandra (32); his sons, Aiden (11) and Evan (9); his father, Dr. Lucas Wanga; his mother, Dr. Pamela Wanga; his sister, Caroline Wanga; his brothers, James Wanga (Kate) and Vincent Wanga; and cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many, many, many, close friends.

To all those who knew and loved Victor, the Wanga family would like to invite you to celebrate his life with them on Sunday, November 18th, 2018 at Copper Ridge, one of Vic’s favorite places. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00pm. The celebration of Vic’s life will begin promptly at 4:00 and will be followed by a Vic-style party that will end when we get kicked out.
