I am so sorry to the family of Sylvia for your loss. She was a sweet lady who loved the Lord. It’s Wednesday, Jan 31st and I’m just reading her obit in the newspaper and had not heard about her passing.  I met Sylvia at First FWB Church in Greenville where she faithfully attended.  She was a part of the Church’s outreach to the Community through “Threads from the Heart”, by crocheting lap blankets for the sick or for those in need of a blanket.  She also taught  her gift of crocheting  to others in the group and donated many  crocheted blankets to the group to give away.   We all missed Sylvia after she moved to Assisted Living in New Bern but she would occasionally come back to visit First Church to worship with us as long as she could drive. I met Ms Sylvia at Truewoods, where my parents also reside. We bonded over Ocracoke, and I heard the most wonderful stories. She also showed me articles and papers she had collected over the years of the island. She was kind to me and always had a smile and a hug for me. I miss her. 
I am sorry for your loss

I met Sylvia more than 50 years ago when she entered LPN school with my Mom at Craven Community College in the old Harvey Mansion downtown New Bern. Sylvia always had a great wit and loved to laugh and make other people laugh. She was doing this in her last days at Carolina East. We loved her sense of humor! 

Sylvia was smart and had an extraordinarily broad experience in nursing skills and health care in general. She used her knowledge to help many others facing health questions and challenges. 

She was a good friend and will be missed. Her family and friends are in our prayers.
