Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, William and Elva Gaskins, a daughter, Trisha Amonette, and a brother, Eddie Leroy "Phil" Gaskins.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Thomas "T-Bird" Tilghman, one daughter, Sharon T. Arthur and husband James of Trent Woods; grandchildren, Amy Gray Rinehart and husband Bryce of Trent Woods, Keri Elizabeth Arthur of New Bern, Matthew Thomas Amonette of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; and one great-granddaughter, Lila Kate Wright of New Bern.Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Cotten Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in the Gaskins Family Cemetery.
