Roy "Gene" Cooke

Roy Eugene "Gene" Cooke, 77, of Vanceboro, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 11th, 2021. Gene was a faithful member of Faith F.W.B. Church where he loved to sing in the choir and looked forward to going to church every time he could. A master gardener, Gene had a gift for gardening and enjoyed sharing the fruit (and vegetables) of his labor. He had big smile, an even bigger heart and always wanted you to know that he loved you and Jesus loved you.

He is survived by his loving family, which includes four brothers, Jimmy Cooke (Brenda), Earl Cooke (Edna), Harold Cooke (Caroline), and Keith Russell (Clara); two sisters, Barbara Locklear (Ray) and Ethel Acker (Bobby); and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17th at Faith F.W.B. Church, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dwayne Boyd officiating. He will be laid to rest at Celestial Memorial Gardens.
