Ronald was born in New York City in 1941 to Dr. and Mrs. Irwin Benrey. He was for 49 years a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Janet, of London, England. The couple was married in New York City in 1965.
Ron and Janet moved to New Bern in 2007. Ron retired from Northrop Grumman in Herndon, Virginia where he worked in the IT Department as a Proposal Specialist. Ron (with his wife Janet) is the author of ten novels and the author of more than ten works of non-fiction. In 2011 they started Greenbrier Book Company, an e-book publisher.
Ron is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (Electric Engineering) in 1962. Ron received his Masters of Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1978, and earned a Juris Doctor from Duquesne University in 1982.
Surviving are his wife Janet, his son Andrew Benrey of Austin, Texas (wife Angela Benrey), his son Jeffrey Benrey, also of Austin, Texas (wife Alicia Benrey and grandson Rylan), two sisters, Judith Corrie of San Diego, California, Dedee Benrey of New York City, his nieces Linda Kelly (San Francisco, California), and Lisa Corrie, San Diego, and a nephew Sean Corrie, also of San Diego.
Ron was a member of First Presbyterian Church in New Bern and was active on several committees. When not writing Ron liked to travel and spend time on his boat Muse.
A service of the Resurrection will be held at First Presbyterian Church, New Bern, on
Monday, May 19, 2014 at 11 a.m.
