He was born in Canton, Ohio on June 17, 1939. He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps and he was married to Irma Sue Cannon for 51 years.
He is survived by his son, Richard Wayne Petersen, Jr., of Chesapeake, VA; his daughter, Karen Lynn Petersen Burton of Durham, NC; one brother, Ralph Peterson of Massillion, OH; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Cotten Funeral Home.
