Pauline Jane Edwards Rhue

She was born in Craven County the daughter of the late Janie Watson and Andrew Jackson Anderson. She was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Edwards Pruett, a grandson, Shaun Marshall Edwards and former husbands, Phillip M. Edwards, Sr. and Donald R. Rhue.

Polly was a member of Bridgeton Free Will Baptist Church. She worked for Civil Service at MCAS Cherry Point and NAS, Patuxent River, Maryland. Polly retired from Civil Service in 1988 and was awarded the Depart of Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award. After retirement, she worked for McDaniel Rest Home for ten years and was currently employed with McCarthy Square Pharmacy in New Bern. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Phillip Marshall Edwards, Jr. of Pollocksville; her sisters, Barbara A. Howell of Durham; Dorothy (Jackie) Rosberg, of New Bern; and a brother, William (Billy” Anderson of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by her grandson, Alton Heath Riggs and wife Patricia; great grandson, Patrick Thomas Riggs of New Bern; two honorary daughters, Ginger Odem of Newport; Missey Lou Weatherly of Esters, FL; one honorary son, Steve R. DeBruhl of Vanceboro; and one honorary granddaughter, Mary Kathryn DeBruhl of New Bern.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Cotten Funeral Home. The family will friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm prior to the service.
