“Patsy”, as her family called her then, was born in Bulls Gap, TN to James Peart and Beulah Ruth (Mitchell) Hudgens on December 27, 1932. When Pat was very young, the family moved to Detroit, MI where, in 1951, she met Clifford Rondal Dartt at Mary Jane’s Soda Shoppe, they were married on January 12, 1952. She and Clifford celebrated 60 years of marriage before he passed away in 2012.
Pat worked for over 55 years as a secretary/bookkeeper for various banks, businesses, and churches, and served alongside her husband, who pastored churches in Colorado, Illinois, Florida, Maryland, New York, and North Carolina. She and her husband made New Bern, NC their home for 29 years, with Pat moving to Des Moines, IA in 2019 to live with her daughter, Maralee. Pat was an exceptional cook and loved to serve others through food. She also loved some good ole southern gospel music.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, James and Beulah Hudgens, husband, Clifford Dartt (2012), and son, Michael Dartt (2021).
Pat is survived by her children, Jannise Rankin of Dothan, AL, Crystal Dartt of Warwick, RI, and Maralee (Dean) Foster of Des Moines, IA; daughter-in-law, Kathy Dartt of Jacksonville, FL; siblings, Cynthia (John) Swaffer and James (Stephany) Hudgens; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service for family will be held Friday, March 18, 2022, with Pastor Dwight Williams of Calvary Baptist Church, New Bern, NC officiating.
