Nancy was born and raised in Bridgeton, North Carolina, and was the oldest of 8 siblings. After her mother’s sudden passing, she cared for a couple of her siblings and made sure they went to school.
In earlier years, she attended Bridgeton Elementary School from Elementary through high school, and worked in the cafeteria after school for extra money. Growing up, she loved spending time with her Grandmama “Donnie”, and spending many nights with her. She married her husband Sebert and they were married for thirty-eight wonderful years. In later years, she worked as a private care, in-home nurse for elderly patients with dementia, and was well loved for her dedication and compassion for them. She was a member of Bridgeton P.H. Church for many years, and loved being with her church family. She was well known for her great southern cooking and loved making big meals for her family & friends. In most recent years, she enjoyed being with all of her grandkids and great-grandkids. Taking pictures and playing games with them. She will always be remembered for her big smile, and her kind & gentle spirit. We will miss her oh so much. But we part only to meet again on that beautiful shore…In the sweet-sweet by and by.
She is preceded in death by her husband Sebert Jones, her parents, Clarence and Sue Lewis; one son, Jonathan Lee Jones; one sister, Linda Lewis and a brother Billy Lewis.
She is survived by her children, Donna Jones (Harold) of Longview, WA, Lewis L. Jones, Jr. (Betty) of Yuma, AZ, Doris Bell (Danny), Jennifer Smith (David), all of New Bern, step-daughters Rose Hudson (Virgil) of Vanceboro, Bonnie Cayton (Tony) of Cayton, brothers, Buddy Lewis of New Bern, Keith Davis of Greenville, sisters, Mary Jones of New Bern, Brenda Mayberry of New Bern; her grandchildren, Selena, Michael, Heather, Sarah, Anthony, Alex, Meradith, Victoria, Jazmyn, Lynnsey, Ethan, Liam, Alan, Daniel and Kalob; her great-grandchildren, Julian, Aaliyah, Nova, Kelsi, Gabriel, Gabrieal, Emersyn, Karter, Kash, Miles and three more little angels on the way.
