Melissa Jo Clay

She was a people person who never met a stranger. She loved everyone she met and they loved her right back. She loved her church family at Rhems United Methodist Church and attended faithfully until she entered the nursing facility. Melissa was a very giving person, always wanting to help others. Her final act of generosity was the gift of her organs through organ donation so she will bless many families with the gift of life this Christmas season. Thank God for her time with us. She will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father, John P. Clay and wife, Annette "Wendi"; paternal grandfather, George B. Clay; and maternal grandfather, Manley P. "Polly" DeBruhl.

She is survived by her mother, Marilyn "Jody" White and husband, Doug White; paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Clay; maternal grandmother, Jean K. DeBruhl; uncle, Rev. Michael Clay; and aunt, "Cookie" Burkhalter and husband, Kurt.

The family held a celebration of Melissa's life and she will be laid to rest at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
