Mary Sue Smith Tripp, 66, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 19th, 2021. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who faithfully served the Lord. She loved singing and ministering in local nursing homes along with her husband and friends. Mary enjoyed spending time in nature, whether working in her flower garden or watching the birds and squirrels. She worked at Hatteras Yachts for 28 years and then at CarolinaEast Medical Center before retiring in 2017. Mary will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Noah Tripp; three children, Deena Craven (Junior), Melissa Dean (Nick), and Carol Pfeiff; three stepchildren, Mark Tripp (Susan), Jennie Tripp, and Mary White (Lewis); two brothers, T.C. Smith and Dan Smith (Billie); two sisters, Julie Smith and Loma Brown (Randy); seven grandchildren, Megan Bartrum, Christopher Craven, Sammie Parker, Allie Elwood, Kristiana Pfeiff, Frank'kee Martin, and Maranda Martin; and eight great grandchildren, Sophia Ann-Marie Smith, Sophya Grace Craven, Hunter Bartrum, Gianna Craven, Luke Smith, Kane Smith, Santino Craven, and Chandler Parker. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Craven.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, June 25th at Cotten Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service in the Chapel beginning at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Adrian Arnett officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Hartley Cemetery in the Antioch community.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of CarolinaEast Medical Center and Craven County Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Mary in her last days.
