Mary Kathleen Caldwell Whitfield

Mary Kathleen "Kay" Caldwell Whitfield, age 86, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023. She was born in Victoria, British Columbia on September 23, 1936 and attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Victoria, working for many years as a registered nurse. She met and married her husband, Robert, in 1965 and they embarked on a lifetime of adventure that included multiple moves. Kay enjoyed sewing, quilting, and making crafts, as well as gardening and traveling. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Whitfield of New Bern; daughters, Mary Ellen Whitfield-Willhouse of Arcadia, FL and Kathy March (Juan) of Greenville, NC; six grandchildren, Robert March (Elizabeth), Alex Willhouse, Jonathan March (Shyann), Melissa Willhouse, Adam Willhouse, and Sarah March; sister, Patricia Caldwell; and nephew, Loren McInerney, and his family.

Sadly, she was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Helen Caldwell; sister, Helen Caldwell; and brother, Rev. Richard Caldwell.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 at Christ Episcopal Church in New Bern.
