Marjorie Matthews

A native of WV, she was the daughter of the late John Fleming Pate and Josie Ethel Radford Pate. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents, were brothers Chester E. Pate and Junior Elvie Pate; sisters, Geraldine Pate Price and Catherine Pate Hutchens; and nephew, Buddy Hutchens.

She was a member of Broad Street Christian Church. She was a long-time volunteer of the Adult Care Advisory Committee. She enjoyed golf and for many years co-chaired the New Bern LGA Invitational.

Survivors include her husband, P. W. Wade Matthews; nephews, John Price, Brian Pate, and Paul Hamilton; and niece, Debbie Barker.

Funeral and visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Lakeside Chapel in Greenleaf Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Broad Street Christian Church, 802 Broad Street, New Bern, NC 28560 or a charity of your choice.
