Margaret Tunstall Howerin

Margaret Tunstall Howerin, 93, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 27th, 2021. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and faithful friend. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and enjoyed working in her yard and growing beautiful flowers. Her smile would light up any room and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Helen Tunstall; husband, Troy Howerin; son, Troy "Butch" Howerin; brothers, William, Bobby, Thomas, and Joe Tunstall; and great grandson, Joshua Salsman.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Dawson and Deborah Cowan (Billy); sister, Reba Canady; grandchildren, Chris Dawson (Soo), Christina Bailey (Brad), and Amanda Brinson; great grandchildren, Alex Salsman, Brandon Salsman, Gabrielle Salsman, Annabelle Bailey, Haydn Dawson, Addison Brinson and Garrett Brinson.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 30th at Greenleaf Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at her home.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Craven County Hospice for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
