Lynn Tate Hughes, (Lynn Lawrence Tate) was born on June 14th, 1965, in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was raised in Vincennes, Indiana where she graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School in 1983. Educated as an accountant, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Evansville in 1987.
She married her high school sweetheart, Reed Hughes, December 27th, 1986, and had two beautiful children. An accountant by trade for Kimball Electronics in Jasper, Indiana, she held various roles with increasing responsibility in corporate cost accounting. Lynn was heavily involved in husband Reed’s drag racing hobby and was also a Pampered Chef representative for many years. She was an avid Virginia Tech Hokies fan as well as a loving, first-time grandmother of twin boys.
To those who knew Lynn, her love of shopping rivaled no other. To family and close friends, she was known as the “Black Belt Shopper.” Lynn was always up for a shopping trip, seeking out the best bargains to be had.
Lynn was a beach lover and seized on every opportunity to visit, whether it was the beaches of Hilton Head, SC; Naples, FL, or on a cruise in the Caribbean. She had a strong sense of family, whether it was cheering on her children in their myriad of activities growing up or traveling a long distance to help a family member in need. Her best times were those spent with family. The sound of her laughter would light up a room, although her Euchre skills faded with time. She was a member of the Columbia House record club.
Lynn is survived by her loving husband, Reed Hughes, parents, Gary and Carolyn Tate of Naples, FL. Daughter, Kelsey Bush (Calvin and grandsons Max and CJ) of Mifflinburg, PA. Son, A.J.
